My name is Leisa and I am a mother of four homeschooled children. We began our homeschooling journey in 2011, and I stayed home to raise my children for ten years, before returning to work in 2022 to pursue a career in childcare. My goal has always been to run my own family daycare, so I began studying while working in a large childcare centre, finally completing my certificate and beginning my diploma. I worked in public childcare for 15 months, across all rooms and ages, taking on the role of Lead Educator in the pre-kindy room, educating and caring for around 22 children per day. While challenging at times, it was a rewarding role on my childcare journey, as I made very close connections and built strong relationships with each of the children.
However, I couldnβt thrive in this kind of environment, which is why I opened my own Family daycare. I believe that children need a relaxing, stress-free, loving environment to thrive, just as I do! I feel I have a deep understanding of the needs of children and need to be able to implement my own practices that feel true to my heart.

I believe that all children need the freedom to make their own choices, develop at their own pace and be trusted to learn through following their joy and doing what they love. I believe that children are capable of learning about the world naturally with the right support, and I am here to be that support!
I feel that what I am able to bring into childcare is compassion, understanding and empathy. I get down on the childrenβs level, listen to their needs, play with them, and become their partner
in learning and development, rather than their teacher. Building trusting, caring and fun relationships with them is what is most important to me.
I believe in supporting and guiding children to develop healthy boundaries, autonomy and a strong sense of self in a safe, healthy environment built upon respect and acceptance for each childβs individual, emerging uniqueness.
Rather than taking an authoritarian, disciplinary approach, I aim to guide children to find their own solutions to problems and overcome challenges in a safe, healthy way. I believe that children need to learn about themselves naturally and I am here to support them through those difficult moments with respect and acceptance.
I believe that parents play the most important role in their childβs life, and my goal is to extend my support to families and hold a space of understanding for the needs of both the children and their parents. I believe that honest communication is foundational for positive relationships between those who share the care of children and I aim to remain honest at all times.
I am beyond excited to bring all of these things that make me who I am into my own Family Daycare Centre. I have always had a special place in my heart for all children; to love them as if they are my own.
Leisa
